Camarena Tequila Brings Free Tacos to DFW

by Steven Doyle

Two undisputed facts about Texans. We love tequila and we love tacos. This makes today’s news of the Camarena Tequila Taco Truck moving into the Dallas area so incredibly sweet. As the truck was making its way into the DFW area, the brand selected to work with the Commissary in One Arts Plaza as their local ambassadors. Almost daily you will find Commissary sous Phillip Vorkoper working the truck at various events across the city including Cowboy’s games, festivals, concerts and such. You will also see chef John Tesar making his brand of tacos in the truck quite a bit.

“Taco trucks are great, everybody loves them. So they are going to really love this one. Free tacos and tequila samples,” said Tesar this afternoon just minutes after the Camarena truck rolled into Dallas from its prior Houston gig.

Since Camarena is working with the Commissary the tacos will not be your run-of-the-mill variety, but instead you will see their signature touch that includes beef tongue and roasted onion and avocado, short ribs and charred tomato salsa and more.

We spoke with Mike Bugooan who is representing the brand tour, “we have taken the truck on the road and traveled across the country. We are choosing a local chef everywhere go so we can experience the local flavor. The chef in Florida wouldn’t be making the same tacos as Dallas.”

Look for the truck at an event near you. You will enjoy great tacos, fantastic tequila and the Camarena girls that will accompany the truck on the tour.

Camarena will also give a few craveDFW readers an opportunity to join in on the fun and help the chefs at an upcoming event. Be sure to look for opportunities for this very soon.

Camarena Menu
Beef Tongue with Roasted Onion and Avocado
Short Rib Tacos with Charred Tomato Salsa and jalapeno Crema
Pulled Pork Tacos with Roasted Pineapple and Poblano
Smoked Chicken Quesadilla with Avocado Relish and Pico de Gallo
Chips and Guacamole
Queso Fundito

Tesar says the menu will change through out the month but this is what you might expect in the beginning.

Fantastic! Great tequila. But what about the schedule?

Just what we need – more velvety, designer tacos. And now they’re free to get drunk with. I hope they all go broke and flee the area except for the original, the best — Taco Joint.

Maybe VeganGirl could get something “friendly” on the taco truck and we can ALL do shots!!!!
