Whachu Tacobot Willis? Mextopia

Mextopia has long held a special spot in the hearts of the Tacobots. The site of our first ever Meetup, and the only place we have returned to multiple times Mextopia’s hospitable and the fun we had there is what morphed Tacobots from an online group page dedicated to taco talk into an actual taco eating club. Mextopia is also home of one of the best brisket tacos in Dallas Mextopia’s $2 Tacos and Tecate Tuesday’s are one of our favorite days of the week.

Featuring their normal sized dinner tacos (well normal for Mextopia, freaking humongous to anyone else) in chicken and brisket these tacos are so good you won’t even want more options. But just so you know, they do have fish and sometime pork available, on their regularly priced menu. Coupled with their free Bacon Happy Hours on Thursdays and Saturdays, $3 Margarita Humpdays, and half priced entrees on Monday, Mextopia has something special for everyone almost everyday of the week.

But let’s get back to the tacos. What can I say about Ricardo Avila’s brisket taco that hasn’t already been said? “Richard Avila’s Brisket Taco has long been a Dallas staple. Famously featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives the Avila Family is no stranger to the Dallas Tex-Mex scene. Having opened his own restaurant off Greenville Ave, Mextopia quickly made a name for itself as the best Mexican food on the block. Their Brisket Taco is no exception. Absolutely loaded with beef these tacos are huge. Smoky, velvety taste and with a sprinkle of lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side this is a taco you have to taste to believe.” Ask for a side of cheese and you have one of my favorite tacos in Dallas.

As for the chicken taco it also amazes. Tinted a slight orange due to the tomato based salsa it’s stewed in and juicy enough to cause drippage this taco also scores on the healthy food chart when ordered as a lettuce wrap (just ask, it’s not on the menu). Add an icy cold Tecate and you have yourself a meal for only $6.

And it’s not only the food that amazes at Mextopia, the staff are pretty damn awesome too. More than happy to put up with 40+ crazed and slightly tipsy taco fanatics we’d like to give TWO SHELLS UP to the entire staff at Mextopia for making our One Year Anniversary party a night to remember.
