The day finally arrived, and this past Friday the many fans who had previously waited for hours to sample BBQ vittles from Pecan Lodge hastily plowed through the long line that curved outside the new building in Deep Ellum. With nearly 5,000 square feet, the new Pecan Lodge was able to accommodate the hungry hoard with ease, with wait time just mere minutes due to several stations that sliced and diced the smokey meats.
Many of the crowd were in line not only to devour the legendary beef, but the ribs, handmade sausages, and even fried chicken that is some of the city’s best. And then there is the new beer provided by Four Corners Brewing Company, labeled appropriately “The Boss Lady”. The beer is actually a spin off of the brewing company’s American amber, Red Roja, that has been dry hopped for a special piquant flavoring backed with notes of stone fruit and citrus.
Crowds later in the weekend quelled, with wait times shot down to a minimum. Congratulations to Diane and Justin Fourton and staff for a fantastic opening. You will enjoy the new space which is located at 2702 Main Street in Deep Ellum. Be sure to bring your growler, or purchase one of the Pecan Lodge versions lining the wall of the tiny gift shop which also offers tee-shirts and other BBQ memorabilia.
