Snuggled away between Farmers Branch and Addison, lies a very cool bar and grill – Addison Ice House. I just recently had the pleasure of meeting the staff for Addison Ice House, and after speaking with bartender Ricardo, he suggested I try ‘The Ice House’ burger. Let me be the first to tell you that among all the burgers I’ve had in the last couple of months and really had some bite in it.
The Ice House Burger is comprised of a half pound beef patty, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, jalapeno ranch and the kicker – fried jalapenos, all sandwiched between a tasty bun. Chef Troy Tickle came from Chop House Burger in Arlington said that his Ice House Burger is their best seller. There was no disagreement on my behalf. The smokiness from the beef patty and the tanginess from the fried jalapenos complimented each other very well.
Some other popular items on the menu include the Brisket Tailpipes and the Smoked BBQ Wings. The tail pipes are filled with rich brisket, corn, scallions and cheese. The wings are slowly smoked over a wood-fired pit then doused with BBQ sauce. I have to admit, the BBQ wings were cooked to perfection and the flavor was bursting with smokiness.
Tickle, who happens to have a very unique last name, agrees and wants to create a food challenge in the near future that promotes his view on food. We shall see what Chef Tickle comes up with this summer for us. If you’re in the Addison area, go give Addison Ice House burgers a try.
