Dallas Arboretum Announces 2015 Concert Series

The premier concert series “Cool Thursdays” at the Dallas Arboretum is back in action. As Dallas’ only concert series overlooking the picturesque White Rock Lake on the award-winning Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn, tickets have been selling fast and selling out. This year the series will kick off on April 9 with a new band, Rocket Man: The Elton John Tribute Experience.

Rocket Man gives an insanely energetic performance time after time, throwing around jams such as “Saturday Night’s Alright” and “Pinball Wizard” before sending audiences exploding into space with extended 70’s instrumental versions of “Rocket Man,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Levon.”  Rocket Man musicians actually portray Elton John’s intense 70’s & 80’s concerts down to the finest detail.

For Rocket Man guests are encouraged to participate in the weekly costume contest to win prizes. This week’s theme is to come dressed in your best rhinestones, glasses optional for the “Tiny Dancer Award.”

In addition to the best view of White Rock Lake, attendees can bring picnics and beverages or purchase food from food trucks including Easy Sliders, Rock-N-Ricks and What’s Da Scoop?. The gardens are also open to stroll through before the concert to enjoy the stunning floral spring displays.

The concert series continues every Thursday this spring and again in the fall. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the spring concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Single tickets start at $10-$27 and are available for purchase online. For group tickets of 15 or more, call Susan Armanovs, 214-515-6520. On-site parking is complimentary for all concerts and we encourage our guests to take advantage of the close covered parking available at the parking garage.
