TrailerCakes Knox Location Closing

In 2011 TrailerCakes co-owners Heather Zidell and Leora Azoulay Lesh found a suffering 1965 Tradewind Airstream trailer in a small town in Ohio which would soon become Bubbles, the cupcake toting trailer that spewed tiny bubbles from its posterior and tiny cupcakes from as side compartment window.

Acquiring Bubbles was actually by accident on eBay. After placing a bid in the auction, the ladies didn’t realize that the trailer was full of gaping holes. Or that the owner lives on a middle-of-nowhere ranch in Ohio.

After the winning bidder backed out, the trailer fell into the hands of Zidell and Lesh by default.

At the time the couple were dispensing their cupcakes from a basement in Garland, not the most ideal locations. So Bubbles was a God-send.

In 2012, with the help of Bubbles and a lot of cupcakes later TrailerCakes was able to upgrade once again to a location in Knox Park next to Pei Wei where guests did not need to track down a trailer for delicious cupcakes like Pebbles and Bam Bam, PB&J topped with a Nutter Butter cookie, or a chocolate cake adorned with a Hershey’s miniature called Slap Your Mama Chocolate. Oh the flavors have flavor, and since they are miniatures you can easily taste several without guilt.

Yesterday Zidell announced the shop at 3001 Knox was closing, no reason given specifically, but we were told that there would be a new location soon. You have until Sunday, May 27, 2018 to visit the very tiny shop. Then it will be visits to Klyde Warren Park to get your daily fix of Caramel Eileen or Oh My Ganache.
