One of my very favorite holidays is close at hand. No, not Easter. Opening Day of baseball is one of the last vestiges of Americana and well worth taking a day off with the family to take in tradition. In preparation for the big day the good folks at the Ballpark at Arlington, home to the Texas Rangers, spent the off season sprucing up to make your experience even greater. This is code-speak for ‘more food’. Continue reading

Last night the Dosa food truck made its debut at the Sprouts on Henderson. I tried the Paper Masala that was filled with potato, and it was the best thing I put in my mouth in a very long time. The very large portioned crepe is crispy and wafer thin, much thinner than the other dosas found on the menu.
The plate comes with a cup of dal soup, or sambar, and also two chutneys. One of the chutneys is a bit spicy, the other is cooler with a hint of coconut. This dosa and its sides are 100% vegan and 100% tasty. Continue reading
We love our tapas, and probably a bit disappointed that the term is becoming a bit diluted with the use for anything small. Small plates does not equal tapas. Tapas are these marvelous plated dishes from Spain and basically snacks and appetizers. Since dinner can be served as late as midnight in this country, you might find yourself bar hopping and sampling a few items from probably a dozen different tapas the bar has on hand that evening.
Most likely you will be served several styles of olives, breads, a bit of slow cooked beef, battered squid, sausages or a tortilla de patatas . Actually the more you drink the better the tapas become. Continue reading
Each week we scour the city in search of the very best Dallas has to offer. We check into restaurants both old and new looking for interesting food to discuss with you so you can make handy decision when dining out.
We do not necessarily write up each item we enjoy, and often have photos that we will save for another week. However, we will share some of the most awe-inspiring dishes on Friday in what we like to call Friday’s Five Fabulous Food Finds. Continue reading
Chef DAT is taking on the food truck industry face on. I got a call from Temple last evening and he was excited to talk about his latest under/over ground dinner which will be located in Fort Worth’s Food truck park located at 2509 Weisenberger. On hand there will be live entertainment by Fort Worth-based Telegraph Canyon’s Chris Johnson and cocktails by The Usual’s owner Brad Hensarling. Continue reading
