Thursday evening, Dallas radio’s 103.7 morning hosts Gene & Julie will be joined by Megan Saunders who was celebrating her 20th birthday with five of her best friends at the ill-fated Dark Knight Rises screening. Thankfully, they all made it out safely and physically uninjured.

Best Buddies Texas presents Dallas’ “Life is Sweet”, one of the city’s sweetest fundraising events you will ever encounter.
Dallas area top local bakers and chefs will be paired with buddies, young adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, to create custom desserts and dishes. Guests will be treated to samples of the dessert and dishes, and have an opportunity to vote for their favorites. An inspiring story comes from Lochgilphead, Scotland, home to 9-year old school cafeteria critic and international blogger, Martha Payne. Martha’s story is an inspiring one. She started writing her blog as an exercise and she enjoyed chatting about her lunches. But what happened in the short 6 weeks the blog, which is called NeverSeconds, is shocking.

Dallas is a city that loves to give back. And with that generosity of spirit comes an abundance of fundraising events, from elaborate black-tie galas to simple tastings in the back rooms of art galleries.
Next Tuesday, there’s a fantastic fundraiser that falls somewhere in between: Kibble & Cocktails. The brainchild of Lisa Jones at Barking Hound Village, a luxury day care and overnight hotel for the canine set, Kibble & Cocktails is a food-and-cocktail event to raise awareness and funds for DFW Rescue Me, a true no-kill, last-chance rescue organization. Kick off the weekend of Earth Day between the end zones of the “WE over Me Farm at Paul Quinn College,” for “A Community Cooks,” an annual fundraising event that offers a fun, eco-friendly evening of live music and fine dining on the newly re-named Farm on April 19 at 6 p.m.
“A Community Cooks” celebrates the Farm’s accomplishments and raises resources to help expand the Farm’s ability to combat the food desert surrounding Paul Quinn College. The Farm brings healthy food to the neighborhood by donating a minimum of 10 percent of all items grown to those in need. Continue reading
