The history of the margarita runs deep in Texas and no matter if it’s frozen or shaken, Dallas loves a great margarita. The most talented margaritologists will gather together to crown the best margarita in Dallas at the 3rd annual Dallas Margarita Meltdown. Created by Tony Fernandez (Espumoso Cafe) and Nico Ponce (Sunset Lounge), the Margarita Meltdown will take place during Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, May 26 from 5pm-10pm in Dallas’ historic Bishop Arts District.
Competing restaurants include: Asador, El Fenix, Meso Maya, Veracruz Cafe, Ten Bells, Oak Cliff Social Club, Outpost, Victoria’s, Mesa, Espumoso Caffe, El Ranchito, La Calle Doce, Iron Cactus, The Standard Pour and last year’s winner Whiskey Cake will return to defend their title. New to the mix this year will be Bowl & Barrel, La Duni, Pozo, DeLat, Sunset Lounge, Lark in the Park, all from Dallas, La Margarita from Irving and The Ranch in Las Colinas. Continue reading

This weekend marked the second annual Margarita Meltdown in Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff. Margaritas flowed freely and for many more hours than last year, lasting from 3 to 9pm and serving over 1,500 revelers. The winner of this year’s contest was Whiskey Cake from Plano with a team lead by bar-whiz Bonnie Wilson, who is certainly no stranger to cocktail competitions.
“This was actually a collaborative effort and we used Sean Conner’s concept, but had a terrific team that included Donna Aghaz, Taylor Costello and Amy Klein,” said Wilson this morning in a phone interview. Continue reading

Over 25 restaurants will be featuring their Milagro Margaritas on May 17th and 25th from 6-8pm that they will be entering in the Margarita Meltdown for the title of “Best Margarita in Dallas” voted by you. This years event will be held on May 27th, 2012 3pm-10pm.
