Be The First To Sample The New Menu At Private|Social Free

alineaby Steven Doyle

Chef Najat Kaanache has been under remarkable fire in the past few days with the announcement of the retooling of Private Social or P|S. We are fairly certain it reverted back to Private|Social, an name I actually thought was witty. It describes the restaurant perfectly.

You can read about the craziness at the Uncle Nancy website, where even the bad stuff gets a beating now and again. I will agree the P|S menu was over-the-top and for the most part inedible, even for this adventuresome eater. The chicken wings at the bar were thrilling, however.   Continue reading

Tres de Mayo Party at Ku De Ta May 3

kudeta1by Jayne Chobot Herring

For those of us who do NOT enjoy spending our weekends sucking in our stomachs for photographers, there is now another way to enjoy the sexy and exclusive pool club Ku De Ta in Old East Dallas. But it is only for one night. The Top Rung Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to improving the Dallas community by raising money for different charities, is having a party this Friday night and we are all invited. Parris Rigby, the foundation’s leader and consummate hostess, along with her well-connected and philanthropic friends and partners, is taking over what they are calling “The Compound,” a first-time-ever combination of the Chicago pub-like Three Sheets, old dance hall reminiscent Southern Comforts, and the previously mentioned urban oasis Ku De Ta for a “Tres de Mayo” party, bringing attention to the foundation and a new crowd to the three properties owned by Patrick Tetrick.         Continue reading

As the State Fair of Texas approaches we will start hearing about all sorts of deals and attractions with the Big Tex theme. This one from the Palomar Hotel Dallas is more delicious that a box of Fletcher’s Corny Dogs. They are actually offering two Big Tex packages.

The package for $189, which is a good value, offers a room, DART rail passes to the fair, chef Graham’s triple fried potatoes and cotton candy in the room.  Every room gets use of the corporate gold fish regardless.       Continue reading

New Cocktail Menu At Five Sixty

by Steven Doyle                 photos by Joey Stewart

When we spoke to Wolfgang Puck back in February he indicated he was making great strides in making his restaurants fresher and more local. At that time Puck had already scheduled to close his flagship restaurant, Spago to retool and update to mirror these current trends.

Puck’s restaurant in Dallas, Five Sixty, is pretty special in the fact it has one amazing sushi bar that is helmed by long time Puck employee Chef Hiroyuki Fujino who serves Omakase-Style.        Continue reading
