2013 Savor Dallas Wrap Up

whiteby Steven Doyle

Another session of Savor Dallas has been tucked under our belts, and formidable host Jim White is already at work planning the 2014 version. This year White seemed more at ease with his progeny, having planned what can only be described as a perfect series of events that lasted nearly an entire week.

The smattering of events scattered a wider path this year, having touched on new areas of Dallas including the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, up-and-comer Trinity Groves, and even the Arboretum. Each spot White visited he left a pot of gold as his legacy for this St Patrick’s Day weekend.   Continue reading

Tonight marks the first Savor Dallas event in the new Trinity Groves area of Dallas. This is the new culinary destination just west of the newish Margaret Hunt Hill bridge. Look for the event to take place in 3015, the event center and cooking school owned by chef Sharon Van Meter. This particular leg of Savor Dallas will feature many of the up and coming chefs to occupy one of the many spaces in Trinity Groves and benefits Hunger Busters, an organization that feeds at risk children.   Continue reading

New Events For Savor Dallas Announced

savorby Steven Doyle

Savor Dallas is one of the premier food and wine events in Texas, and enjoyed each year by literally thousands of enthusiasts. The event seems to be growing at a quicker clip each year with more interesting and exciting events to get people out of the house and exposed to our wonderful restaurants, and of course the wine.

Jim White is Dallas gem and has planned for even more this year with events spreading out over an entire week. Look for a huge event at 3015 in Trinity Grove, and we just learned of another new event at the Dallas Arboretum that will be a lot of fun. The Arboretum explodes in the Spring and on Sunday, March 17, 2013 you will be able to stroll the grounds and enjoy premium wines, beers and spirits. Snapshot’s From Savor Dallas 2012

by Steven Doyle

We are bringing you some images from another successful year at Savor Dallas. This year Jim White and Vicki Briley-White were in rare form offering events across the city tht benefited a variety of groups including Les Dames d’Escoffier and other worthwhile charitable groups.

Regardless of which event you chose to participate in Savor Dallas 2012 proved to be a unquestionable success. The weather cooperated, bringing loads of sunshine and gentle breezes to Friday’s Art District Stroll where guests noshed on tasty nibbles from area restaurants, sipped a whole host of wines, beers and spirits as the great crowd meandered through the District’s venues.            Continue reading

Savor Arts District Stroll

by Katie Minchew

Friday evening, as part of the infamous Savor Dallas event, a friend and I participated in the Arts District Stroll. The event was hosted at four venues (Meyerson Symphony Center, Winspear Opera House, Dallas Museum of Art, and Nasher Sculpture Center) and promised lots of wine, beer, and snacks, all to sample in a very short two hours. The event started at 5:00pm, not allowing for us worker bees to arrive on time. We raced in and registered at the Meyerson, ready to mix and mingle with our fellow Dallasites.       Continue reading

Meet Winemaker Michael Martini

by Steven Doyle

Several weeks ago we had a chance to sit with Michael Martini of Louis M. We asked Martini several questions, and in return we sat back and enjoyed nearly an hour of fantastic wine conversation. You may meet Martini this weekend at three events at Savor Dallas including the Reserve Tasting and the International Grand Tasting Saturday evening.

Here are a few questions we asked Martini:    Continue reading
