Lunch At Primebar Makes Me Happy

Primebar has been calling my name ever since I checked out their brunch last month. The modern Ale House offers 40 taps including plenty of local brews. The sales monkey at Deep Ellum Brewsky’s needs to call on these guys for sure.

The menu is diverse and includes small plates such as deviled eggs and BBQ chicken flatbread to entrees that include items such as horseradish-crusted salmon, beer-battered fish and chips, pork tacos and the fried egg burger. Wachu TacoBot Willis? Shooters

Shooter’s opened in Victory Park this past January serving street and gourmet tacos along with burgers, salads, and wings. With some of the cheapest prices in the area this is exactly the kind of restaurant the AAC has need: cheap quick food and low priced drinks and all just a few steps from the main entrance to the American Airlines Center. Weekly taco and sandwich specials like this week’s Blackened Tilapia Taco or the daily lunch special with 2 tacos and a side of either the bacon cheesy rice and beans or a side salad help round out the menu.

The Most Interesting Taco In The World Comes To Dallas

Beginning Wednesday, April 25 through Saturday, May 5, the bold can visit the Dos Equis-branded taco truck to participate in the 2012 Feast of the Brave. Follow Dos Equis Facebook page April 25 for the local map and schedule of taco stops in Dallas, “bravery points” leader board, menus and Feast photos from the events.

In each participating city, local chefs will be crafting and serving free original tacos – one taco per person, while daily supplies last – with ingredients not usually found in your soft or crunchy-shelled taco. From fried pig ear, chicken gizzard and armadillo to grilled shark, fried alligator, hog stomach and thousand-year-old egg fritters, each esophagus-chilling taco comes with “bravery points,” pitting the cities in a contest for bravest palette. Eat More Tacos: Tacopalooza

Tacopalooza? Sure, why not. This event is brought to Dallas by the good folks that pulled off Mods versus Rockers in Dallas last weekend, David Marett, and craveDFW’s own TacoBot glam girl Daniel Leahy. The event will feature tacos from across the Dallas taco plains, replete with taco eating contests, bands, PBR and much talk about tacos.

The event takes place Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Bryan Street Tavern, the place for good tacos, PBR and bands, and begins at 1pm. The event culminates later in the evening with the taco judgment and ends at 7pm.

You won’t want to miss this one.

Have a Safe and Happy St Pats

As we get ready for the weekend we wish to thank you for checking out our little website this week. We considered throwing out a list of places to medicate your liver for St Pats, but there are plenty of options and we want to get started in on the fun ourselves right away. We have a crew of camera folks hitting the streets starting tonight, so if you see a craveDFW photog be sure to look extra inebriated.

Be safe and enjoy one of our favorite holidays of the year. May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.

Wachu TacoBot Willis? Nueva Casita

Nueva Casita on Blackwell is located in a charming little stone building behind the Half Price Books off Northwest Highway. Boasting an all taco menu for just the Tacobots with 9 different tacos (including crispy tacos, my illicit taco love affair) we got straight down to business so we could enjoy the Tuesday night Karaoke going on after we finished.

First up were the house chips and salsa. Maybe my taco eating powers have increased my spice handling capabilities (or maybe it was my tussle with Bryan’s insane Devil’s Blood salsa last meet up) but I found the house salsa could use a little more heat, luckily they have two more salsa’s (red and green) that packed the kind of punch we were looking for and they were more than happy to bring us out as much as we needed. And in a few cups of their delicious queso and we were ready to go. Continue reading →
