Last week on craveRADIO we had in studio the bodacious Bob Stephenson from FnG Eats in Keller. Chef Bob was gracious enough to bring the crave staffers a bountiful feast of Habanero Peach BBQ Ribs, El Comal Baked Beans, a little Mac a J.A.C and Texas Sweet Tea. Needless to say, we need more guests like Bob.
We discussed the menu at FnG, which happens to be fun plays on a lot of familiar dishes, and the good chef enraptured us with a poem. You see, Bob is what they call a Poetry Slammer. JW Tate sends word that he is hosting the a five-course dinner paired with a selection of five whiskeys. Josh Black formerly of Stephan Pyles be preparing the special dinner to pair with a selection of extremely rare whiskeys spanning a wide range of geographical styles. Each whiskey has been carefully selected to act in concert with Josh’s inventive dishes.This dinner is the second in an on‐going series of Tate’s pairing dinners featuring some of our favorite chefs from around Dallas as well as seasonally appropriate spirits and cocktails. I stopped in Tate’s Craft Cocktails located on McKinney Avenue last week when I was tooling around town with cocktail maven Jason Kosmas and we met the new manager and chief barman, JW Tate. JW is the son of the owner and comes to Dallas from Winston-Salem, North Carolina where the original bar is located.
You may recall Tate’s opened in Dallas back in December with Matt Ceneviva at the helm. I spoke with Matt about JW and he said, “I worked with JW when he first started bartending and the grasshopper has actually outreached the master.” Continue reading
