Deep Ellum Brewing Company will launch two brand new beers to the market starting July 31st – one is a seasonal and one will join the year-round lineup for DEBC. Yes, “Wealth and Taste” is a Rolling Stones reference (but also an homage to the originator of this style of beer – Duvel. Duvel actually means devil in Flemish) and is a seasonal batch. It was built in two 30 barrel batches – one batch was aged in Chardonnay barrels and one batch went through the normal fermentation process then they were blended together to get the balance they were looking for. Bandito’s Opens New Locaton With A Twist

Another familiar name has moved to Plano very near Nosh Euro Bistro’s second location. Bandito’s Tex Mex, who is owned by the same folks who operate the Katy Trail Ice house have opened an amalgam of the two restaurants and called it Bandito’s Tex Mex Ice House and it is located at 4700 W Park Blvd. Continue reading

Katy Trail Ice House Has Awesome Barbecue

We recently ran across Jimmy Fell, the general manager over at the Katy Trail Ice House. You will know Fell most recently from Red Dog Right in Grapevine, but most prominently when he worked for Jim “Sevy” Severson at his namesake restaurant on Preston. Fell was excited to talk about the latest addition to the menu at the Ice House, and how it has drastically improved not only the cuisine but what can be long wait times for the food to arrive at your table.
Enter a giant behemoth of a smoker that is a bit displaced for the moment while the owners build a shed complete with its own exhaust system on the property. Until then, the smoker is located about a block away in a parking lot owned by Katy Trail Ice House. Continue reading
