Crave had the opportunity to speak with Damon Crow last night. He is better known around Dallas as DC, as in DC’s Café which was named best Soul Food in the Dallas Observer 2 years in a row. We joined him for his Soul Food Throw Down he held at Lee Harvey’s. Serving to a sell-out crowd, the Throwdown offered all-you-can-eat ribs, Cajun catfish sliders, brisket sliders, fried, & grilled pork chops, mac & cheese, black eyed peas, collard greens, candied yams, homemade biscuits, and pound cake…need we say more?
With more than 20 years of experience under his belt, Chef DC explained how he started cooking when construction of North Central Expressway began with the idea of delivering home cooking to construction workers. Instead he was given the opportunity to cater an event for his girlfriend’s company with 63 spaghetti dinners. DC never looked back.
When not running his catering, he can be seen discussing food on Channel 21 every Thursday night, but look for him on the Food Network when his new series “DC’s Southern Love” which will premiere in the coming months.
