New Feature: Weekly Wine Q&A

by David Donalson

I remember when I first got into wine, buying wine was such a daunting task. Walking into a wine store and seeing bottles in different languages and labels can be extremely overwhelming. What is the difference between shiraz and syrah? How about Nebbiolo, Barolo and Barbaresco? The answer to both questions is that they are the same grape but different areas. But how are people who do not study this for a living supposed to know?

This is where I want to help you and you help me. I am studying for the Certified Sommelier exam and I can only read so much before it starts to blend together. Here is my challenge to you: I want to help you by answering your questions. Is there a question about buying wine in a restaurant or maybe you want to find the best wine to serve with your 4th of July barbeque? The more interesting the question, the better!  We will be issuing prizes for particularly good questions.

Every week, I will post some of the best questions and answers so we can create a dialogue about wine.  Please send me your emails at david@cravedfw.com or comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
