Rockstar Bakery Rolling in Dallas

by Crave Staff

What do you get when you combine a delicious treat, a passion for baking excellence and a little bit of rock and roll? The perfect ingredients for an unusual sweet treat as Rockstar Bakeshop has burst onto the truck scene in Dallas with gourmet whoopie pies.

Currently available by special order and at several area farmer’s markets, check out their site for their weekly event schedule and order form. After procuring a special arrangement with the downtown Dallas House of Blues, music patrons can also catch Rockstar Bakeshop at several concerts throughout the year as well.

According to Executive Pastry Chef and Owner Kristin Leonard, the most popular offering is the whoopie pie called “Shout at the Devil” which is a rich chocolate cake combined with dark chocolate ganache filling and Godiva chocolate liqueur buttercream.

Combining a background in art, music management and pastry, Leonard’s unique line of whoopie pies are memorably named after song titles and bands. Just a few include the California Dreamin’, White Zombie, Rainbow Connection and 1979. Selections change weekly so customers have the ability to sample all of the flavors. Check the website each week for offerings.

Delivery is available within the local DFW area with advance notice.

I did wonder why there seemed to be a bake sale at the HoB. Next time I’ll give one a try.

My fave is their red velvet whoopie pie. 🙂
