Tesar To Open 2 Additional Commissary’s, New Resto and Double Decker Burger Bus

by Steven Doyle

We got word a few days ago about The Commisssary chef John Tesar opening two additional locations.  For the past few months he has been teasing us with tidbits of a new restaurant and the news about addition Commissary’s. He likes to tease us.  But earlier this week he sent word to craveDFW with the information on not just two additional Commissary locations, but an a totally new restaurant and a double decker burger bus.  Here is his excitement-filled release in total.

Chef John Tesar will be quite busy this coming year with the announcement of several new projects scheduled to open in 2012 in Dallas and FT Worth. John Tesar will be opening his new signature restaurant “The Spoon Bar and Kitchen” located in the former 24 hour fitness space on Westchester Drive and Luther Blvd in Preston Center, scheduled for July of 2012. Tesar will also be opening two new Commissary Burger bars one on Northwest Highway and Midway, Oct of 2012 and one more in FT Worth at Camp Bowie in the Museum Place development in December 2012.

In addition he will be creating the menu and operating a London Double Decker Bus which will serve signature hamburgers and street fare in Dallas starting this April 2012. The Burger Bus will feature the same C-Vap technique that the Commissary uses to cook its burgers. The Bus will also have a lounge for diners to frequent on the second level of the bus this added feature allows the bus to serve food in all types of weather and at different locations daily.

Chef Tesar will spend the majority of his time cooking at Spoon and will look for some rising star chefs to man the kitchens at the new Commissaries. Chef Tesar will remain a consultant to the original Commissary located at One Arts Plaza and in his absence Screen Door Executive chef David Macmillan will now help oversee the day-to-day operations.
