Mi Piaci Has Fresh New Look And Taste

by Steven Doyle

This past summer Mi Piaci took on a face lift that was sorely needed. There was some hail damage done to the roof and the owners took that as a cue to close down for a short period and revamp the 20 year old restaurant which has become a standard for Italian cooking in Dallas

There are actually less seats available with the added Luna Lounge, which is a comfy space to meet and mingle with custom built banquets  accented by handmade chandeliers and filtered through soft mood lighting.

Calamari Fritti, pan fried calamari steaks in a red chili sauce and cilantro oil

Spaghettini Neri, black pasta with butter poached blue crab and chili butter

The wine bar is also a new addition. Formerly a peek-a-boo kitchen font Enoteca (wine collective) offers bar nibbles, a larger cocktail program and a more expansive wine list. You can still get a glance of the fresh pasta being turned out in the foyer of the restaurant where the sight is both tantalizing and inviting.

Pesce Branzino, tamarind glazed chilean sea bass with lemon-basil risotto

Mi Piaci still has strict kitchen standards and has added prime aged beef and chops to the menu which are served with sides of risotto or that hand-made pasta.

Nearly finished is the multi-level patio which overlooks the large pond that is home to dozens of turtles that can be sighted almost any time you look. This will make for the most absolute romantic spot to dine al fresco in the city, and certainly a refreshing oasis.
