Rockwall’s Rib Rub and Run This Weekend

by Steven Doyle

I believe the reason we discuss Rockwall so much on craveDFW is because there are some pretty damned good chefs doing their thing there. The boys from Ava know their meat, as does Edward Grieb from the Fatted Calf, and Chad Bowden who is the head toque at Culpepper’s. This weekend you get to see all these chefs throw down alongside many others at the 4th Annual Rib Rub and Run. We are so big on the running part, but they had us at ribs.

This is a sanctioned BBQ event, which means the winners go to compete nationally. Competitors will be smoking their best pork spare ribs, baby backs and country style ribs as well.

Throughout the day you will be able to taste ribs along with vendors fare which includes pulled pork sandwiches from Ava, turkey legs from Bin 303, smoked brisket and sausage on a stick from Fatted Calf,  brisket tacos from El Cayote Rojo, smoked sausage sandwiches from Zanata and sip Texas wines from KE Cellars.

There will be plenty of music all day and then there’s that pesky 5 and 10k run in the morning.

This is a great way to beat the fair traffic and have a fun outing at the same time. This is a meat lovers paradise that should not be missed. This is a Main Street Rockwall event, so that is where you will find the festivities. Check the website for more details.
