BBC Close To Opening And We Snagged A Menu

by Steven Doyle

Located next to the Quadrangle on Routh Street in Uptown Dallas, the BBC, or British Beverage Company, will swing its doors open wide to the public October 29, 2012. October will prove to be a busy month for restaurant openings, and we are eager to grab one of the first pints to pour from this pub.

Sporting 50 taps along with 100 bottles of beer, the BC should prove to be a welcome addition to the pub landscape in North Texas. There is also promise of a kicked up cocktail program and a selection of 45 wines and bubbles.

When it comes to pubs, we stop in for the pint, but stay for the food. We have a first look at the menu, but will have to wait for food shots and taste descriptions for at least another week. We always appreciate a good Scotch Egg, as well as a plate of Bangers and Mash. Check out some of these dishes:

Scotch Egg Hard-boiled quail egg and English style sausage rolled in seasoned bread crumbs then fried. Served with Branston pickle, horseradish potato, and whole grain mustard.

Beer Steamed Mussels Fresh mussels steamed in beer with garlic, sausage, and herb butter.

Beef Tartar Served with devilled egg dressing, truffled celery root, rocket greens, and toasted brioche.

Ploughman’s Lunch  Sliced smoked meat served with cheese, gherkins, whole grain mustard, Branston pickle, fresh fruit and country bread.

BBC Burger  Grilled ground beef with bleu cheese and onion marmalade. Served on a toasted croissant bun.

Mulligatawny Soup  Curried lentil soup with chicken, rice, and Greek yogurt.

Pie Trio  Three traditional British pies. Shepherd’s Pie, cottage pie, and chicken and mushroom pie.

Bangers and Mash  Two grilled Cumberland sausages with smashed potatoes and red wine onion gravy.

Herb Brioche Crusted Fish & Chips  Herb brioche crusted Halibut, pan seared. Served with malt vinegar and Yukon Gold fries.

Potato Crusted Fish & Chips Cod or grouper coated with shredded potatoes and fried. Served with zucchini fries.

Add live music and top DJ’s to the mix for bonus points. By the way, this completes the third pub we predicted back in May.
