Some of Dallas’ finest lady bartenders will be mixing drinks at Shake for Second Base on Sunday January 13th   to raise money for breast cancer research. Sissy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar, at 2929 N Henderson, Dallas will host the event from 6pm-10pm so come early for drinks and bites. The showcase of strong females in the Service Industry not only places women at the forefront of the burgeoning cocktail culture in Dallas but also, raises money for an issue that will affect one out of eight American women in their lifetime according to the American Cancer Society.

Representatives from some of Dallas’ most exciting and innovative cocktail dens will be in attendance including but not limited to: The Cedars Social, Whiskey Cake, Marquee Grill, The Windmill Lounge, the highly anticipated reservations only bar The Establishment and many others. Female suppliers, whom have graciously extended support through spirits, have bolstered assistance for the event. Kettle One, Bombay Saphire, Caña Brava, Cointreau, Angel’s Envy, Dulce Vida, Glenrothes, St. Germaine, Dolin, Bitterman’s Bitters and Deep Ellum Brewing will all be featured at the event.

For a mere $10 at the door people can expect some of Dallas’ best fried chicken and a cocktail, each subsequent cocktail will be $7 and ALL proceeds from the event will be donated directly to a breast cancer research fund.  There will also be a live auction at the event that allows the general public the opportunity to bid on an hour-long cocktail date from some of their favorite barmen and ladies around the city, with opening bids starting at $50.

Event organizers Bonnie Wilson (of Whiskey Cake) and Trina Nishimura (of The Cedars Social and The Establishment) are very excited about Dallas’ first all female bartender showcase. “I love my bar brothers dearly,” says Nishimura “but we ladies are sometimes marginalized due to our perhaps more boisterous male counterparts. Dallas women are stepping into the limelight of the cocktail scene and banding together to call attention to a very worthy cause and the sisterhood is growing!  We have all been affected by this horrible disease whether directly or indirectly and should do everything we can to find a cure.”

Shake for Second Base will be an exciting experiment in what happens when ladies, spirits and fried chicken coalesce. Swing by Sissy’s this Sunday January 13th from 6pm-10pm for some chicken, a cocktail and the chance to bid on your favorite barman—or lady as the case may be.
