Tre Cooking Concepts And Life After Marquee

Tre02by Steven Doyle

The food lords of Dallas were taken aback recently when Tre Wilcox resigned his post two years after he opened the kitchen at Marquee in Highland Park Village. Wlicox comes to us with an amazing pedigree named as the James Beard Foundation’s “Rising Star Chef” for two consecutive years, and appearing on Top Chef Season 3 and the All Star Season 8. On any given night Wilcox could be found working the line in his own kitchen at Marquee rather than playing up his celebrity status.

Wilcox claimed he wanted to spend more time with his family and offer cooking classes in his home, and the man has been doing just that.

These classes are limited to five students where a four course lunch is prepared and served by the chef. The luncheon includes a selection of wine with a BYOB option. Each of the classes are held each Saturday afternoon from noon to 2pm with a unique theme each week which offers a true Wilcox enthusiast reason to sign up for multiple classes for a mere $175 per seat.

For groups starting at four people, Wilcox will do a special class not listed on the schedule. He is also catering unique dinners in your home for up to 16 people where he provides everything down to the silver and plating.

How successful is Wilcox with his new gig? Reviewing the schedule we noticed that all of January is sold out, along with February. In March you have one prospect of gaining a seat; the same for April. Your only chance of a class the first quarter of 2013 is to ask for a private session with your friends.

For more information or to sign up for a class visit Tre’s Eventbrite sign up page.
