We checked in at Asian Delights Cafe last night, the Malaysian Restaurant that opened in Plano just the day before. Consistent with the orient being mysterious the place was almost impossible to find. Having not, no sign, but somebody else’s above the door! Fortunately, the plastic “Grand Opening” banner steered us in. The marquee recognition and sign arrive next week and then the good news will be plentiful parking just a few doors down from Kroger.
They are still staffing up which meant only a subset of the full menu was available. However, a quick scan told us this is Blue Ginger Garden redux. We ordered a selection of our favorites and went family style at our table for four. The chef, from Penang in Malaysia, rendered them like a pro.
Pictures below show our starters of chicken satay (but omit our roti canai). Main courses of chicken and potato curry and Kuala Lumpur Hokkien noodles. And vegetable dish of four vegetable sambal belachan. Also maybe a stray shot of our bill for four people (excluding the bottle of wine we BYOBed).
Interestingly, when we walked in the whole clientele was Asian. Maybe I’m dining with the smart money. We paid our own bill but did not dine anonymously. So consider this a report, not a review.
