Parigi Dinner Will Help Fund Promise Of Peace Garden

promiseby Steven Doyle

Chefs Graham Dodds, Janice Provost, Chad Houser and Rolo Cantu have generously agreed to create a special dinner this Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Parigi in Dallas to benefit the Promise of Peace Garden in East Dallas.  The evening kicks off at 6pm with music provided by Mack Price who will perform a medley of Beatle’s songs, followed by the dinner at 7pm. To purchase tickets follow this link.

The dinner will raise funds to build a new garden on Old Gate Lane across from The United Methodist Church in Little Forest Hills. The church is offering Promise of Peace an opportunity to utilize the space and engage the community by leasing the property that will include offices, classrooms, and an industrial kitchen for a dollar a year.

The organization wants to feed more people in need and provide environmental education for the surrounding schools, and residents. Promise of Peace will also forge a plan with St Bernards to provide fresh and nutritious lunch options for their students. The plan will begin by building a decorative fence with a local Boy Scout troop on June 15th.

At that time the gardeners will plant edible plants and flowers around the perimeter of the parking lot as we transform the barren space into a virtual paradise. The hope is that this serves as model for other underutilized space to be offered up to serve the community.
