Check Out The New Cocktail Menu At Quarter Bar

The Quarter Bar in Uptown on McKinney has a classy atmosphere but still retains a casual feel. Inspired by the owners love for French Quarter of New Orleans, this massive bar is filled with antique couches and lamp shades, restored tables and chandeliers. The walls are lined with old paintings and memories of nights past. Every room in The Quarter inspires feelings of the decadent  saloons of New Orleans in the 19th century with a red felt pool table up stairs and an enclosed patio downstairs, while still being modern with giant connect four and touch screen juke boxes. Even the new cocktail list is reminiscent of New Orleans’s; from the Voodoo Queen to bar manager Stacy Taylor’s favorite the Frozen Cherry Limeade, all the new cocktails are great for summer.

The Hand Grenade, this aptly named drink is sweet and refreshing but packs a punch made with silver rum, vodka, melon liquor and pineapple juice topped with a cherry like a pin waiting to be pulled on this explosively tasty drink. Like the real thing it’s strong; a great drink for that hot summer night.

The SoCo Sazerac is a modern twist on a classic American cocktail it’s smooth with a sweet finish. Made with muddled lemon, sugar and bitters, southern confront pored over the top with ice and garnished with a lemon. This vintage cocktail is a gentleman’s drink its simple yet classy, it’s no wonder the Sazerac is the official cocktail of New Orleans.

The Hurricane is the best known drink on the new list of cocktails. Like a tropical storm this French quarter classic will knock you off your feet.  Made with light rum, mires dark rum and Malibu coconut rum all mixed with pineapple and orange juice topped with a cherry this staple of summer still beats the heat.

Booze pops. The name says it all, cocktails in Popsicle form. The original booze pops are more like an old school popsicle with a stick, but now, thanks to bar manager Seth Byers these tasty treats are now easier to eat.  The new booze pops are in otter pop form (Seth’s idea) eliminating the mess of a melting pop.  The pops come in variety of colors and flavors; the favorites stay, while new pops have been added over the past 3 years. A few favorites include the Ocean Water made with blue coconut and rum a classic summer flavor combination, or the Berry Pucker a strawberry lemonade Popsicle made with vodka and chucks of fresh strawberries. With all the quarter at bread winners has to offer, from the talented staff to the innovative menu and cocktail concepts has kept patrons coming back for the last thirteen years.  Look for the new menu and beer list coming within the new few weeks.
