Facebook just announced that they are going in cahoots with OpenTable that will enable you to make reservations via your smartphone at 20,000 restaurants in North America. You will be able to make these reservations without leaving the Facebook app, a move that places the social media giant in direct competition with Yelp which also has an integration with OpenTable for reservations.
In the past Facebook has failed at attempts to offer “deals” and other special offers to generate income, but this new feature offers promise for additional revenue.
The web site will also help users find TV shows and movies by integrating TV listing information. The listings will be found on fan pages for individual TV shows and movies.
Facebook hopes to have the new features available to users by the end of the week.
