More Hatch Celebration This Sunday At Southlake Central Market

You know it is Hatch Chile Season when you smell fresh roasted peppers everywhere, and it drives you to the nearest grocery to nab a few pounds. Some to cook with now, more to freeze for those barren chile months in the dead of winter. These special peppers grown in New Mexico are Anaheim’s all grown up. They benefit from the soil and sun only spied upon in the New Mexican heat, and this season they have a bounty.

One event you may not want to miss in Southlake uses the chile as its main ingredient. Central Market has called upon several local chefs to compete Iron Chef-style in a battle to out-spice the competition.

Hatch-Chile-Enchiladas

Watch local chefs of popular restaurants compete for the coveted Golden Chile award. This event will be held in the cooking school, and you will have the opportunity to watch the chefs in action as you sip wine and beer samples in an exclusive tasting party of Hatch-infused products carried at Central Market. The Chefs will be presented with a mystery basket of ingredients (with Hatch Chiles as the main ingredient). They will have one hour to create a dish. While our judges decide, you will have the opportunity to sample what the chefs have made. Our competing chefs are:

  • Luciano Salvadore, Executive Chef of Patrizio’s Restaurant in Southlake
  • Jason Harper, Executive Chef of Trio New American Cafe in Colleyville
  • Chef Uno Immanivong, Foodie Couture, Co-Founder of Chino Chinatown, and a contestant on ABC’s The Taste, Team Bourdain

To secure your tasting seat at the competition check out the Central Market website. The cost is $25 and is from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Southlake location.
