Sera Opening In Fort Worth

Cue the soundtrack to Hitchcock’s “A Man Who Knew Too Much“.

Many may remember the former Sapristi! space on 2418 Forest Park Boulevard, along with the restaurant’s popular faces, General Manager John Marsh and Sous Chef Brandon Hudson. Today, Marsh has come back to the former Sapristi! location to open Sera Dining & Wine, a neighborhood tapas and wine concept, featuring a Coastal French-Spanish influence. The name Sera comes from Latin origin, meaning “it will be”. Marsh has hired Hudson to serve as Executive Chef. Hudson most recently served as Sous Chef at SMOKE in Dallas. He has also studied under Michelin-rated chefs in Spain.

“Brandon and I have been talking about working together again for a few years now,” said Marsh. “After 30 years in the business, to be opening Sera, and doing it with Brandon in this space, it feels like I’m coming home.”

The menu will feature shareable small, medium and large plates, with dishes ranging from $6 to $32. Items on the menu will change seasonally, as they will be made from locally sourced produce as much as possible. Some of the dishes may include: Crispy Whole Sardines with Meyer Lemon Aioli, Hen of the Woods Mushroom with Quail Egg & Morcilla Sausage, and Slow-Cooked Suckling Pig with Quinoa & Herbs. Guests can also expect to see lots of seafood and a regularly changing vegetarian dish, as well as a specialty wine list that will be focused exclusively on Spanish & French wines that are thoughtfully paired with the menu.

“I’m thrilled to be back home cooking in Fort Worth again,” said Hudson. “And even better, I’ll be making the food I’m most passionate about.”

The updated 3,456 square-foot space will showcase a light, modern, Mediterranean feel, with lots of bar seating. The entire restaurant will be able to seat approximately 130 guests, including a private dining area and a few tables for dining al fresco.

This restaurant opening will bring about 15 new jobs to the local economy, and Marsh will begin the hiring process this month. He is looking to staff professional waiters who are hospitable, engaging and knowledgeable about food.

Sera will serve dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., as well as “Sunday Suppers” once a month.

Writing this kept my mind wandering to the Hitchcock film which you can watch here for free.
