Chino Chinatown Opens Dec 30

Chef Uno made her long awaited announcement today that she and partner Adrian Verdin plan to open the doors to Chino Chinatown in Trinity Groves December 30th. Determined to open in 2013, Uno has some pretty terrific tastes awaiting her guests. I have personally sampled many of her dishes and you should be prepared to be blown away. Her ramen will curl your toes (think spicy bone marrow butter) and the duck fat fried rice is ridiculously good. There are some very special plans for Sunday dim sum service as well.

Here is the press release sent out this morning.

From the minds of Chef Uno Immanivong and restaurateur Adrian Verdin comes the newest concept to the Trinity Groves entertainment district. Chino Chinatown, a Latin-Asian fusion restaurant, is set to open its doors on Monday, December 30.

“We are thrilled to join such an exciting and eclectic mix of restaurants at Trinity Groves,” says Chef Uno, a former contestant on ABC’s The Taste. “Our menu has something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds.”

The menu features shared plates such as Cochinita Pibil Steam Buns (pickled radishes, candied peanuts), Duck Fat Fried Rice (shrimp, Chinese sausage, BBQ pork, sunny-side up egg) and Lobster Shooters (coconut, guajillo, Thai curry). Large dishes such as Phozole (hominy, bone marrow broth, oxtail) and Duck Breast (membrillo glaze, fried rice) are also included on the dinner menu. A late night menu will be offered with dishes ranging from $4-$9, as well as $6 cocktails.

Chino’s bar program was designed by Jason Kosmas (Employees Only NYC, Marquee Grill, The 86 Co.) and will be overseen by Ian Reilly (The People’s Last Stand, Bowl & Barrel). It includes signature cocktails such as the Tijuana Sling (Remy Martin V, marasca, lime, seltzer) and the Mezerac (rye, mezcal, cola, cacao bitters). A selection of cocktails can also be ordered by the pitcher.

Beginning December 30, Chino Chinatown will be open for dinner and late-night Monday through Saturday. Sunday Dim Sum Brunch service will begin late January. To learn more, visit the website.
