Boxwood Tap + Grill resides in the revitalized 2901 Thomas Avenue building within the State Thomas neighborhood on the east side of Uptown.  The 80-year-old historic building which formerly housed Thomas Avenue Beverage Company (T.A.B.C.) has been restored to its original craftsmanship with exposed natural brick, soft lighting, tin ceilings and hardwood floors.  The spacious patio is a beautiful oasis with ample seating and its own bar, providing patrons a very comfortable environment to enjoy the upcoming lovely fall weather while partaking in many great food and drink items.

Boxwood Food

Our first recommended shared plate will be to get the Cheese Board with your four choices being Salami, Black Forrest Ham, White Cheddar, and Herbed Texas Goat Cheese for $16.50.  Other meat and cheese choices are available, so mix it up to your satisfaction.  Two more shared plates to order are the Fried Green Tomatoes with spicy remoulade for $6, and the always refreshing Caprese Flatbread with Basil Pesto, Mozzarella, Tomatoes, Basil, and Balsamic for $10.  These items should be paired with a round of Boxwood’s delectable hand-crafted cocktails.

Also order the Strawberry Basil Lemonade with Aviation Gin, Fresh Basil, House Made Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, and Fresh Strawberries for $10, and the Rosemary Buck with American Harvest Vodka, House Made Ginger Beer, All-Spice Dram, Lime Juice, and Rosemary for $10.  Enjoy the patio, your light and refreshing food and drink selections, and of course your company, then make your way to the next stop a few blocks away, Parliament.

Parliament Bar View

Dallas is a great city for cocktail connoisseurs, and we’re sending you now to what is increasingly becoming one of the highest praised establishments in Dallas/Fort Worth.  Parliament derives inspiration from the barrooms and clubs of the early 1900’s.  Walking up, you might even overshoot the door, and we believe that is intentional.  This dark and sexy bar is perfect for a round of drinks with your partner.  Ambient Jazz music, soft and romantic lighting, combined with stellar drinks and exceptional service guarantee this relatively new location to thrive.  While the ambiance is one of the best we’ve seen for Date Night drinks, and quite frankly you would even be happy here drinking water, take advantage of being in the presence of cocktail royalty.

Partner and bartender Eddie “Lucky” Campbell has repeatedly been nominated and frequently awarded Best Bartender in Dallas by multiple polls and publications.  “Lucky” has been the star at places like Abacus, The Chesterfield, and has helped many establishments around town with their cocktail menus.  This visit, you should order the Ramos Gin Fizz which is getting praised by many to be the best in town for $12, and order what is typically called at most establishments the Bartender’s Choice for $12.  When you leave it up to the bartender, they will take the time to ask you what you like and create a custom cocktail just for you!  Parliament is located at 2418 Allen Street in Dallas.

Dallas Arts District

If you’re up for it, now it’s time for a free event.  The Dallas Arts District is having its Fall Block Party.  Streets are closed for a block party with the Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and Nasher Sculpture Center.  Grab a dessert from one of the remaining gourmet food trucks and enjoy all three museums  By this point in the evening, some of the special activities, live concerts, guided tours, films, and more have ended or are winding down, but the party starts at 6pm and ends at midnight.  You can also choose to take a walk to Klyde Warren Park and take in the sights.  The Dallas Arts District is located at 750 North St. Paul Street in Downtown Dallas.
