Texas Tapas Opens in Deep Ellum

Russell Hobbs, owner of two legendary Deep Ellum venues, The Door and The Prophet Bar, is proud to announce the recent soft opening of a brand new tapas restaurant
concept in the heart of the neighborhood called Texas Tapas. The restaurant and bar offers a unique blend of tapas with a Texas twist in a casual dining atmosphere and is open for dinner on Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Jaime Corona, who formerly served as Chef at The Place at Perry’s, has been appointed as Head Chef and brings years of expertise from the modern steakhouse to Texas Tapas’ wide array of elevated Southern and eclectic dishes. The new restaurant is now open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Texas Tapas is located at 2511 Main Street. 

The menu features large portions of shareable American-style plates, including the signature dish, a tender Deep Ellum Fried Rib Eye with gravy and egg, Chicken and Waffles, Calamari Texas Style with Texas Jalapeño jelly and Deep Eddy vodka sauce, The American Dream Hot Dog nestled inside a hot glazed doughnut, a juicy Angus Beef Waffle Burger, and more. Hobbs made note of adding an eclectic mix of international bites to the menu as well, such as the Tuna Tartare Tower with Pico de Gallo and avocado, Spanish Potatoes, Blackened Tuna served with soba noodles, Burritos of all kinds, and a Sashimi Du Jour that he cheekily calls the So Sue Me. The establishment also serves up $1 Texas Tacos and select beer on Thursdays, as well as happy hour on Wednesdays through Saturdays, which includes half-price well drinks
and domestic beers.

“Deep Ellum has always been a center for innovative ideas and a great place for pushing the envelope in culture and cuisine. The Prophet Restaurant served healthy food and featured a juice bar in 1989 before the masses were asking for healthy food,” said Hobbs. “Dallas isn’t a one horse town on the Trinity River anymore, it’s an international city and people’s food interest is international. With tapas, you can enjoy a little bit of everything.”

At the new restaurant Hobbs creates a friendly atmosphere by offering high quality, satisfying Texas food served tapas style, perfect for sharing. Bringing with him decades of bar and club experience, Hobbs hopes the restaurant’s success enables him to soon open additional locations for Southern food lovers to enjoy.

“I wanted to create a great place that offers what I enjoy the most for my friends and I to visit, while providing the concert goers in Deep Ellum with a more complete experience,” said Hobbs.
