Summer in Dallas is about to get a lot more hoppy Oak Highlands Brewery (OHB) – Lake Highlands’ first craft brewery – set to celebrate its grand opening July 18 with a public event from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oak Highlands Brewery is a production brewery and taproom in the Lake Highlands area.
Lake Highlands’ neighborhood production brewery and taproom has been several years in the making by local dads Brad Mall and Derrin Williams. Along with their families and their OHB team, they are proud to extend an invitation to the public to join them on July 18th at 10484 Brockwood in Dallas. Tickets to the OHB Grand Opening, $16.82 in advance and $20 at the door, are available for immediate purchase. A limited number of tickets will be sold for this event – tickets are not guaranteed to be available at the door.
Guests of the grand opening will enjoy a commemorative pint glass, a koozie and tokens to try three beers of choice. Additional tokens can be purchased on-site. The OHB Grand Opening experience will also include Easy Sliders plus OinknMoo BBQ food trucks – offering food for purchase, live music by Charley Crockett, Shotgun Friday, Ole G and merch, of course – where guests can stock up on t-shirts, tank-tops, hats, stickers and more koozies.
Brewed with relentless and uncompromising passion, OHB’s craft beer is sure to include your new favorite. OHB has set a goal to become a destination for craft beer aficionados, and they’re starting with their neighborhood, right here in Lake Highlands. OHB’s year-round line-up includes five beers: Tripel, Dunkelweizen, Kolsch, IPA and a Dortmunder Lager. In addition to regular taproom service, OHB’s initial line-up of beers will soon be available on draft and in cans in in local bars, restaurants and retail stores.
OHB’s brewery is a 16,200-sq.-ft. labor of love several years in the making – a well-planned venture in which half of its investors are Lake Highlands residents. Look for a stylish 3,000-sq.-ft., air-conditioned taproom, from which large windows provide expansive visibility into the production house, where all of the beer-brewing magic happens.
Regular hours (beginning Thursday, July 23) are Thursday and Friday, 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, 12-6 p.m. Food truck service will also be a mainstay on the weekends.
Future plans include 20 taps of house-only brewed beers, with as many as 15 at any given time of rotating/experimentals/ seasonals; supported by a three-vessel, thirty-barrel brewhouse. Using a small pilot system, OHB intends to keep producing smaller batches of new beers. The brewery will soon roll out a charity beer, proceeds from which will benefit a rotating group of local nonprofit organizations.
The OHB facility will be available for live music shows and other big events, corporate outings, parties and fundraisers.
