Friday, November 13th

The competing BBQ teams will move into Kidd Springs Park on Friday, November 13th. The public is invited to come watch them light their fires at 5pm.  There will be live music by Kirk Thurmond, a beer and wine garden, and food for purchase. All ages are welcome, and there is no charge for entry.

Saturday, November 14th

Kicking off our Saturday festivities is the 2nd Annual ‘Stache Dash 5K. Enjoy a run through the hilly neighborhoods of historic Oak Cliff for a great cause. The ‘Stache Dash benefits the Movember Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and research funding for men’s health. Their focus is on prostate health, testicular health, mental health, and increasing physical activity. The race begins at 10 a.m. at Kidd Springs Park. You can pick up your race packet beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday on site at the park, or pre-race packet pick up is available. Friday, November 13th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PSW Real Estate’s leasing office located at 512 W Davis Street, or on Friday night at the Blues, Bandits, & BBQ party.

Music & Entertainment

In a nod to Oak Cliff’s history as the birthplace of legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn and T Bone Walker, KNON Community Radio has taken over the stage programming for this event and is lining up some great talent. Also enjoy community performers, such as the SOTE dancers and the Sunset High School Jazz Band.

The barbecue tasting kicks off Saturday at 1:00pm and lasts until 3:00pm. Attendees can purchase a wristband which includes their samples of the teams’ barbecue, but it also includes one vote in the People’s Choice Competition. Wristbands are $20 and are available online. There is a limited quantity of wristbands available. Awards are announced at 4:30 p.m., so stick around to see if your favorite made the cut.

If you are interested in having a booth at Blues, Bandits, & BBQ for anything other than competing in the BBQ competition, please apply online. Approval is based on the items being represented or sold.
