Nick & Sams Park City To Celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year Feb 1


The Lunar New Year is the most important and festive celebration on the Chinese calendar. In China, it’s popular practice to eat lucky foods during the celebration, to usher in prosperity and good fortune for the coming year. February’s ‘First Wednesday’ supper features several of these lucky foods as well as other traditional Chinese dishes.

Chef John Kleifgen is planning a special “Lunar New Year” dinner to welcome in the Chinese New Year at Nick & Sam’s Park Cities.  

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the popular Park Cities restaurant will serve up a family-style feast featuring traditional Chinese food with a Nick & Sam’s twist, starting with a delicious selection of:

Prosperity Toss – cucumber, daikon, carrots, scallions, red pepper, pickled ginger, peanuts, plum vinaigrette

Pork & Shrimp Steamed Dumplings served with soy chili sauce

Mustard Greens – ginger, garlic, apple, soy

Spring Rolls – sesame pork, sweet chili (symbolizes wealth)

Summer Rolls – shrimp, rice noodles, basil, mint, pineapple, spicy peanut sauce

The menu continues with an array of entrées, including:

Longevity Noodles – shrimp, mushrooms, ginger, garlic, scallions, sesame oil (symbolizes happiness and longevity)

Glazed Pork Belly – ginger, scallions, cilantro

Peking Duck – pancakes, cucumber, scallions, hoisin

Whole Roasted Barramundi – cilantro, sesame oil, soy, spicy peanut oil

Be sure to save room for a tasty trio of desserts:

Tang Yuan – black sesame, mandarin orange (symbolizes harmony and reunion)

Nian Gao – orange zest, molasses, ginger (symbolizes a higher income)

Candied Kumquat – coconut ice cream

Of course, several exquisite wine pairings will be featured throughout the meal.
