Admit that you have already blown your New Years resolutions. If everyone behaved themselves we would be out of business, along with most of the city’s restaurants. In keeping with your good nature we wish to explore a few choice desserts in Dallas. Follow along at home and make reservations!
From the talented hands of chef Jill Bates at Fearing’s (located in the Ritz-Carlton in Uptown) we find this very sharable dessert made of poached pears with an olive oil sponge cake, marscapone cream and burnt toast ice cream. Hearts are murmuring across the city. Ask for Jill and tell her craveDFW insisted she chat you up.
Meandering down Greenville Avenue early some Saturday morning you will smell the beckoning of fresh pastries from the Boulangerie at 1921 Greenville, a retail location for the Village Baking Company. Step in and enjoy a European breakfast and include one of these pain chocolat’s with its many layers of flaky butter-kissed dough and a large nugget of chocolate to warm your spirits for the rest of the day.
With several locations in the Dallas area to satisfy your cravings, check out this coconut cream pie from the good folks at Del Frisco Grille which is served with a mountain of white chocolate shavings.
At Rush Patisserie you will find an assortment of pastries to fill your urge to splurge. Samantha Rush fills orders for area coffee shops and restaurants, and has a tiny unmarked bakery in Oak Cliff that is open late (10pm most nights) to serve the community who enjoy settling in to one of her classically French desserts.
The lovely chef AQ at Oddfellow’s offers this timely plate of beignets heaped high in powdered sugar and served with local honey. Every day can feel like Mardi Gras.
Remember when mom would bake chocolate chip cooking and you ate a majority of them with a cold glass of milk while the cookies were still warm? You can reenact those formative years by ordering a box for you (and a friend) of Tiff’s Treats. She delivers warm cooking to your doorstep. Eh?
