Dallas Cowboy’s Art Tour

by Steven Doyle

If you can’t decide between going to a museum or taking in a Cowboy’s game, fear not — you can do both. There are two tours of the Stadium’s art collection that includes 21 large-scale, site-specific works of art in all, by such artists as Olafur Eliasson, Teresita Fernandez, Doug Aitken, Annette Lawrence, Lawrence Weiner, and Franz Ackermann (pictured above).

The program launched in 2010 with 14 commissioned artworks, installed in prominent locations throughout the stadium. The Dallas Cowboys Art Program was conceived, launched, and funded by Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and his wife, Gene. Their daughter, Charlotte Anderson, and niece, Melissa Meeks, have also played prominent roles in the project.

Now you may take one of two tours, a self-guided audio tour that includes an app for your smart phone, or a guided tour. Either is a great way to study the stadium and a host of important art pieces.

AUDIO ART TOUR: Mondays and Wednesday at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm
Cowboys Stadium’s audio guide tours visitors through the art collection. Select from audio and video stories which provide in-depth information on the collection. Download the free Cowboys Stadium Art App, or checkout a hand-held device at the stadium.

GUIDED ART TOUR: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm
Follow one of our tour guides as they enlighten you on each of the art pieces in the stadium.
