Sumo Shack Opens May 4th

Sumo Shack, sister restaurant to Wabi House, is a totally chill place to kick back and have a good meal or two.  Under the careful culinary direction of Chef Dien Nguyen, Sumo Shack is a fast and casual modern Japanese/Asian eatery where Sumos, foodies, friends and family a like can hang out and grab a bite to eat or grab it to-go.  Sumo Shack softly opens its doors and open on 11 am on Thursday, May 4th at 5629 SMU Blvd. in Dallas.

Expect a quick and modern menu of 20 items, that’s all under $10: small bites like Katsu corn dogs and Sumo Fries, Japanese hotdogs, steamed baos like brisket bao or pork belly bao, meals to-go, and even, ramen take-out.

Unlike Wabi House’s strict rules of not ordering ramen to-go, Sumo Shack will break that rule.  Special chicken broth-based ramen will be served there to make for better quality control and taste.

Doors open on Thursday, May 4th at 11 am and soft opening week runs from Thursday, May 4th through Friday, May 5, 2017 with specials!  During the soft opening week, spend at least $10 and receive a bird from us – a complimentary Angry Bird Bao to be exact: sumo hot fried chicken, American cheese, pickles served in a warm steamed bao. 1 bao per ticket and dine-in only.

Call-in orders and take-out is currently available.  Delivery is not available, yet. No reservations required or accepted. Happy Hour starts on soft opening day with a dollar off everything on the drink menu, even Oni Goroshi juice boxes. Happy Hour runs from 3 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

Chef Dien plans for a special late night menu in the future for Fridays and Saturdays during the 11 pm to 4 am time frame.  He’s thinking different ramen totally off the menu.  Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm and Friday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 am.
