Dallas will soon be home to a one-of-a-kind BBQ restaurant created in the image of a true Texan.

Imagine Big Tex chowing down on some mouthwatering Texas BBQ with a local craft beer in-hand and live country music playing in the background. Now take that image and add in a 50-foot running Ferris wheelThe result is Ferris Wheelers. (Yes, you can actually ride on it!)

Ferris Wheelers is where locals and visitors alike can grab some unforgettable BBQ while enjoying Texas-inspired cocktails, craft brews and live music performed by local and national artists outside on the 7,000-square-foot patio. In between sets, take a ride on the Ferris wheel or challenge a friend to a game of Jenga, bags, washers, hook & ring, oversized Kerplunk, checkers or chess.

The restaurant is projected to open in late September.

Head Pitmaster Doug Pickering is the mastermind behind the delicious menu, which features Texas staples such as brisket, ribs, house-made sausage, honey-brined smoked turkey breast and Carolina-style pork shoulder. The southern-influenced sides include smoked BBQ beans, smoked green beans, BBQ mac & cheese, jalapeño bacon cole slaw and southwestern potato salad.

Drawing on influences from Kansas City, Memphis, Texas and beyond, Pickering’s signature BBQ defies categorization.

“I left Wall Street to pursue my passion for BBQ, and I can guarantee that you’ll be served the highest quality, best-tasting meats possible,” said Pickering, owner of the award-winning DWP BBQ brand. “I use post oak wood and an offset wood-fired rotisserie smoker to ensure a taste of Texas in every bite. I’m a Dallas native and SMU grad so, as you can imagine, I’m a huge fan of the area and I can’t think of a more amazing platform for showcasing my own particular style of BBQ than Ferris Wheelers!”

In addition to bringing some of the best BBQ around to Dallas, Ferris Wheelers is adding 30-40 jobs to the local economy. The restaurant is currently interviewing individuals for multiple positions, including servers, bartenders, hosts and kitchen support staff. Interested candidates may apply in person at the restaurant, located at 1950 Market Center Blvd. in the Dallas Design District, from Sept. 11-15, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., or send a resume to cody@ferriswheelers.com. All kitchen employment inquiries should be directed to doug@ferriswheelers.com

“We are looking for a select group of men and women with a great work ethic and positive attitude who can help us ensure that our guests have a helluva good time every time they visit Ferris Wheelers,” said Operating Partner Cody Hand. “We’re going to have a super fun work environment with a lot of growth opportunities, plus you’ll get to serve awesome BBQ and enjoy performances from talented artists while you work.”

Ferris Wheelers is the latest innovative creation of Dallas-based This & That Concepts, which also owns Parlay, High Fives, Tiny Victories and Whipper Snapper.
