Tickets for the 8th Annual Meat Fight go on sale Tuesday, October 3rd at 10 a.m. Be sure to set a reminder, as tickets for the meaty charity event sold out last year in under one hour.

Meat Fight is a Texas barbecue competition with a tradition of awarding bronzed beer-can trophies and raising cash for the National MS Society. “This year, Meat Fight is going to be bigger than ever before,” says Alice Laussade, CEO of Meat Fight, Inc. “We’re featuring 20 of Dallas’ best chefs in the main fight, plus 9 more chefs in our beefy VIP Side Show competition—and we’re adding a whole new competition to the mix for all attendees. It’s called Sweet Fight. Our friends at Whole Foods are presenting that, and the category for competition this year is pie. It’s gonna be so great.”

The five teams competing for barbecue glory include notable Dallas chefs including Jeff Bekavac of Neighborhood Services, Justin Holt and David Uygur of Lucia, Tiffany Derry of The Cupboard, Matt McCallister of FT33 , Eric Dreyer of Fearing’s, and Jeana Johnson of soon-to-open Mockingbird Diner.

Fighters will duke it out in four categories: brisket, pork ribs, sausage and Wild Card. And unlike most food competitions, Meat Fight attendees actually get the opportunity to eat every competition meat submitted for judging.

And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve added Sweet Fight to the mix for all attendees. Whole Foods presents this pastry fest, and Katherine Clapner of Dude Sweet Chocolate is overseeing the competition. Nine amazing pastry chefs and sweets-specialists including Maggie Huff from FT33, Tida Pichakron from Haute Sweets Patisserie and Hans Muller from Swiss Pastry Shop will battle it out for a whole new trophy: Best Pie.

This year, the VIP section is bringing back The Side Show, a separate competition that includes 9 additional chefs. Notable Dallas chefs like Janice Provost from Parigi, Graham Dodds from The Statler and Jeffery Hobbs from Slow Bone BBQ will compete in feats of meats only available to the VIPs.

100% of tickets sales from this event benefit the National MS Society and people living with MS in our area. Last year’s event raised over $175,000.

Judges include culinary heavy-hitters like BBQ Editor Daniel Vaughn of Texas Monthly, Todd David from Cattleack BBQ, Nick Pencis from Stanley’s Famous Pit Bar-B-Q and Jill Bergus from Lockhart Smokehouse. And of course: we’ve got Pete Delkus back on the judging panel. Forecast calls for an amazing year, y’all. Let’s do this.

Ticket sales begin via Prekindle at 10AM on Tuesday, October 3rd at Prekindle.com. A link for tickets will be posted on meatfight.com and at Facebook.com/meatfight. Tickets are $135 for General Admission and $235 for VIP. We’ll welcome a whopping 1500 attendees this year.
