When it comes to Texans we love our tacos, and in recent years that facination has spread throughout the country like bacon on a band wagon.
We searched all of Texas for the very best in various styles including breakfast tacos, those perennial crunchy tacos, street tacos and even the elusive puffy taco. We encourage you to try these tacos, and offer your favorites. Tacos are not just for Tuesday, celebrate these icons daily.

With locations across southern Texas including Laredo, San Antonio, Houston and Brownsville, Taco Pelenque makes a fantastic breakfast taco with an assortment of fillings including chorizo and egg, potato and egg and chicharron.
Taco Joint in Dallas cranks out wonderful breakfast tacos including our favorite, the migas taco.
In Austin you will need to try Valentinas Tex Mex BBQ which does your standard breakfast offerings, but also offers smoked meats and eggs, including brisket for a meaty bit of heavenly morning.
El Primo Taco Truck may be one of the smaller trucks in South Austin, but their breakfast tacos are some of the very best.
Henry’s Puffy Tacos in San Antonio are legendary when it comes to all things puffy. And taco. These are the ultra-crisp taco that are the perfect vessel for your favorite ingredients.
Endearing diners since 1956 Rays Drive-In in San Antonio has been serving crispy dogs and puffy tacos with rave reviews since. Iconic for a reason.
The Street Kitchen Truck in El Paso is serving up some insanely good tacos street style with plenty of chopped onion and cilantro.
El Ultimo Taco food truck cranks out the street tacos, gorditas, and even flautas. The ingredients are generous and spot on.
El Rey Taqueria in Houston serves up a good variety of street tacos including ropas vieja, shrimp, pastor, grilled fish or chicken and so much more.
Taqueria la Perla in Bryan is serving up one of the finest lengua tacos in Texas, but has a full line up of your typical taqueria meats to please.
In Donna, Texas Tacolandia is queen of the tacos.
Las Trancas truck in East Austin is a wonderful experience for lengua, pastor, chorizo and more.
Ernesto’s Taqueria in Fort Worth supplies its locals with these delicious tacos. Bring cash only, and expect long lines but a short wait.
Taqueria Ruby in Fort Worth is where you go to find authentic trompo tacos sliced straight off the spit.
El Come Taco in Dallas is considered one of the finest taquerias in the state with the best line-up of familiar and unusual meats offerings such as ant larvae and crickets.
Gringo Tacos We Love
Fuzzy Taco Shop (found all over Texas) make a great variety of great go-to tacos. Although not considered traditional, they can be delicious.
Taco Cabana is a favorite across the state with warm, supple tortillas made fresh while you wait. The potato and egg breafast taco is our simple favorite.
A Taco That Confuses Us But We Still Love
Chico’s Tacos in El Paso has several locations and can be best described as a beef flauta swimming in a mild red sauce and topped with grated American cheese. This sounds awkward when discussing great tacos, but they are addictive, an El Paso institution, and best devoured after 2am. Just saying.
