The delicious results are in for last summer’s big 20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week. The August 2017 campaign raised nearly $796,000 for its charity partners the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and Lena Pope. This represents DFW Restaurant Week’s top annual fundraising to date, thanks to the diners, restaurants and sponsors who loyally enjoyed 20+ days of dining out and doing good for the community. The campaign is gratefully recognizing top restaurants for their exemplary fundraising and participation with the announcement of its 20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week Star Restaurant Awards.

20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week Results

Last August, 140 participating restaurants served thousands of diners for DFW Restaurant Week. Twenty percent of the price of each lunch or dinner was donated to NTFB (Dallas area restaurants) and Lena Pope (Tarrant County restaurants.) Of the $795,796 raised during DFW Restaurant Week – a 12 percent increase over last year — NTFB received $595,488 and Lena Pope received $200,308. The majority of returning restaurants (participating in both 2016 and 2017) increased their charitable donations this year. Twenty-four restaurants participated in DFW Restaurant Week for the first time in 2017.

“DFW Restaurant Week is our largest annual fundraiser. Remarkably, over the past 20 years, the campaign has helped us to provide nearly 20 million meals to hungry North Texans,” said NTFB President & Chief Executive Officer Trisha Cunningham. “We are grateful to the restaurants and diners who enable us to help so many through their participation in DFW Restaurant Week.”

Lena Pope Chief Executive Officer Todd Landry said, “We couldn’t be more thankful to the community for stepping up to the plate for the big 20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week, making it our most successful to date. The campaign not only supports local restaurant business, it also raises substantial funds for our organization. Last year alone, DFW Restaurant Week diners helped Lena Pope to provide more than 1,800 counseling sessions to help struggling families overcome life’s challenges.”
