Celebrate National Margarita Day With A Few Friends

It is National Margarita Day. These foodie holidays can be a bit wearisome, but this is one day I can circle my wagon around. It also happens to fall on Chili Day, which we have provided handily for you to enjoy. But let’s take a look at some specials going on today and a look at our favorites. Because it is a day to celebrate.

We spoke with Leann Berry last night, she is part of the Dream Team who re-opened Cedars Social recently. Berry is the ace bartendress behind the new concept and has been named repeatedly one of the best bartenders in Texas, and even more specifically one who makes the best margarita. If you are out running the cocktail beat tonight, you will want to stop by for a visit.

“I am glad to be back for my favorite drinking holiday,” clued Berry when asked about margaritas, “Or as I like to refer to it, my Super Bowl. this year is extra special because I get to share it with my two Amigas in our new home at Cedars Social”.

The other Amigas are of course Monica Greene and Anastacia Quinones, the latter just engaged to another chef not far from the Cedars. A lot of celebration going on. Look for a $5 Mango Swirl, an $8 Habanero (oh, it’s good) and an $8 Chingona. Arriba!

Today from 3-7pm Jalisco Norte is offering $5 ‘ritas, other deals are going on at Cantina Laredo  with an $8 Perfect Patron margarita, The Rustic is doing a grand celebration with bands and great joy, Meso Maya has a $5 version until 6pm, taqueria La Ventana has $2 margaritas all day, and Mexican Sugar in Plano has flights of margaritas for $12.

A lot going on, my list is lengthy. Let’s focus on some fun ones such as Stampede 66. I see Stephan Pyles is vacationing in South America but his crew is kicking it up with those amazing tableside ‘ritas that are flash frozen with liquid nitrogen for an added show. It is comprised of Cimarron Blanco Tequila, Prickly Pear Puree, candied Jalapeño and Lime.

HIDE in Deep Ellum is offering its Premium Casa Dragones Margarita for one day only – National Margarita Day. Crafted with 2 oz. of Casa Dragones Blanco, .25 oz. orange juice, .75 oz. lime, .25 oz. Grand Marnier, .50 oz. of agave and 3 drops of saline. What would normally cost around $28, costs just $14 on National Margarita Day.

Jettison in the Sylvan 30 compound is also a place you will want to be tonight. Barman George Kaiho will be featuring many different takes on the Margarita utilizing Suerte Tequila along with the classic Cointreau. Union House Tamale will also be on hand serving up free barbacoa and pork tamales with the purchase of a cocktail.
