The team behind The Woolworth open their newest concept Smithy at 2927 N Henderson Ave for dinner service tonight.

Smithy encourages guests to mingle, share, live and dine all while sharing in the experience of crafted, modern, but approachable food and drink.

Opened for dinner with lunch and brunch planned for the near future, Chef Ronald Von Hatten defines his offerings as shared plates, and unique eats. The menu flirts with global influences but ingredients you will know. Co-owner Brandon Luke says, “Influences such as Asian, French, Mexican and American will keep you guessing on what to order or share. Our menu keeps guest favorites but rotates seasonal items three times a year. This allows us to keep our offerings interesting and follow trends during the year.”

The bar program is a progressive and spirit forward approach using local ingredients, classic standards and a culinary touch. Beverage Director (Bar Chef) Mike Hernandez continues the success of The Woolworth program.  Luke says, “The key comes from a love for a culinary approach to ingredients and building of the spirits. And, our draft selection are hand selected local breweries.”

RV blends comfort food and global influences into his latest creations.

What’s the Back Story?

Smithy (pronounced Smithee) is derived from the short English name of Blacksmith. The original use of the current space was Henry Potter’s Ironwork shop. A well-regarded blacksmith, his work can be seen today in Dallas public schools built in the 50’s, SMU campus and several Highland Park homes.

The redesigned space now has an outdoor patio. The interior brings warm and bright tones while contrasting against the masculine matte black steel bar with copper hints. The room contrasts from bold, dark elements to a light, inviting dining and seating area.
