Dallas Japanese restaurants, organizations and talents team up to create a fun food festival to highlight favorite Japanese dishes, to celebrate local Japanese talents and to celebrate Haru Matsuri (Spring)!
The Japanese Spring Food Festival will be held on Sunday, April 22, from 5 pm to 9 pm at Niwa Japanese BBQ’s patio and neighboring patio. Free event. There will be 4 food and drink stations serving yakitori skewers from Niwa Japanese BBQ, sushi and rolls by Y’s Catering Kitchen, ramen debut by Ichigoh (opening Summer 2018) and drinks by George Kaiho of Jettison. Niwa Japanese BBQ restaurant will be open that day and serving from their full menu.
Niwa Japanese BBQ Restaurateur Jimmy Niwa said that there are Spring festivals and celebrations throughout Japan during this time and wanted to bring a bit of that to Dallas but keep it all local. Niwa got with Ichigoh who will be debuting their ramen at the festival and will be opening their ramen shop in Summer 2018. He also got with Yosuke Fukada of Y’s Catering Kitchen who came from Tei An and whose chef is considered the “OG” of Dallas sushi in the Japanese culinary scene. George Kaiho of Jettison, known for his exceptional background in sake and cocktails, will also be mixing cocktails and mocktails for everyone.
Food and drink items will range from $3-$7 and sold with food tickets. 1 ticket = $1. Pre-sale food tickets are encouraged and available in increments of $20.
Pre-sale tickets will be available for pick-up at will call and tickets will also be for sale at the event. Guests who purchase pre-sale tickets will automatically be in a raffle to win gift cards of up to $100. You don’t have to be present to win. Niwa will announce the winner by Niwa Japanese BBQ’s social media pages.
Guests will enjoy performances by Taiko Drummers of Dallas Kiyari Daiko at around 5 pm and 7 pm. Special thanks to their Community Partner Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth.
