Wednesday, August 22, CrushCraft Thai will open its second location at The Star in Frisco.

The unique fast-casual featuring organic and locally sourced ingredients using classic cooking techniques, boasts a patio and full-bar at the Frisco address. With rotating seasonal cocktails and an all-local craft beer list, this “fresh-casual” restaurant brings a fun, neighborhood vibe to The Star.

The menu is refined yet still very approachable and affordable with entrees ranging from only $7-$10 along with affordable craft-made cocktails and an all-local craft beer selection.

Traditional dishes such as the Kra Pao – ground pork, jasmine rice, fresh basil, bell peppers, onions, mortar-smashed chili and fried egg topping along with a selection of coconut milk based curries and wok-fired noodle dishes to salads like the Skinny B*tch Salad – wok-seared cashews + sesame seeds, crispy tofu, red quinoa, kale + red cabbage crunch, microgreens + edible flowers splashed with a thai peanut vinaigrette – CrushCraft Thai offers a fresh, made-from-scratch daily menu using ingredients in a creative way.

“We feel as though some of the traditional techniques and methods to make great Thai food, while admittedly not the most efficient, are somewhat of a lost art that we feel is vital to our menu.  We take a handmade approach to our cooking and create Thai food with a twist,” explains Executive Chef/Partner Kay Ridgway.

The same approach is utilized in CrushCraft’s cocktail program.  Try the refreshing Strawberry Smash – Tito’s vodka, St. Germaine, muddled basil & strawberries, fresh lime juice and poured over basil-strawberry infused ice cubes or the Kohconut – Malibu Coconut Rum, Meyer’s Dark Rum, coconut milk, fresh young coconut served in a fresh coconut.

Designed by Jones Baker, the intent was to create a vibrant open-air market feel to the space.  Founder Jack Nuchkasem continues, “We also wanted to capture that earthy element of ‘using what you have’ yet maintaining sophistication in our design choices.  The design has the element of being handcrafted, almost a lived-in vibe with strong vivid color schemes and tangible textured objects.”

Chef Ridgway explains, “I like our format of casually coming in and out without having to go through the formal dining experience.  Great food should be accessible to everyone, and I think this is such a big part of the culture we bring with CrushCraft.  We really just want to be a part of the neighborhood and be the go-to place for simply great Thai food.”
