North Italia Opens May 1 Downtown Dallas

Downtown Dallas is quickly becoming a place where people can work, live and play, and the new additions coming to The Union are able to accommodate all of those functions. Dallas is clearly never short on good places to eat, however, with the additions of Tom Thumb, Tacolingo, The Henry and North Italia in The Union, downtown offers more ease of access to employees who want to grab dinner with colleagues after work, or residents who want to step out of their apartments to grab drinks without paying hefty Uber surge fees.

At North Italia, diners can choose from a menu of handmade pizzas, pastas, Italian meats and grilled vegetables. Located on the second story of The Union, North Italia offers a luxurious patio with breathtaking views of downtown.

North Italia’s cocktails are light, airy and refreshing. The Apricot Limonata, which consists of Smirnoff vodka, apricot liqueur and smashed lemon, is fizzy, fruity and a great start to a carb-heavy lunch. Equally as good is the Aperol Spritz, which contains Aperol, citrus smash and sparkling wine. Less-sweet, more herb-y options include the Rosemary and Lime, a cocktail made with Ketel One Vodka, rosemary, amaro nonino, angostura and smashed lime.

To precede hearty meats and heavy pastas, it is probably in one’s best interest to start off with the Grilled Flower. Sure, it may be coated with Parmesan cheese and topped with a fried egg, but hey, at least it’s an adequate serving of vegetables–plus, it’s pretty damn tasty.

One would be remiss if they went to a restaurant boasting a menu of scratch-made Italian cuisine and didn’t sinfully indulge in carbs. The Strozzapreti pasta is a delicious dish with chicken, spinach, roasted mushroom, toasted pine nut and Parmesan cream. The noodles are cooked to a soft, doughy consistency, easy to chew, leaving you feeling full and satisfied. If you must cut back on carbs and starches, The Roasted Salmon, which sits on a bed of pesto farro, caramelized cauliflower, broccolini, lemon gremolata and saba is a great, lighter option.

As for dessert, North Italia’s offers an incredible selection, including tiramisu, bombolini and locally made gelato and sorbetto, which changes daily.
