Employees of the modern southern diner-to-cafeteria is due to close at the end of business tonight. Employees have been writing Crave telling us they are now unemployed and seeking work.

Known for an excellent chicken fried steak and a handy location on Mockingbird at the entrance of Love Field, Mockingbird had a loyal following

Mockingbird Diner is owned by Jack Perkins, who also operates Maple Motor Burger.

Too bad; they turned out some great food, but I preferred the restaurant when they were at Walnut Hill Lane.

I hope this is an indication that “fast casual” concept – where customers often order at the counter and there is minimal table service – is no longer trending.
