School might be out for summer, but Public School 214 is rolling out new cocktails and menu items for the summer session. Located within a minute’s walking distance from DART’s Cityplace/Uptown Station, Public School 214 offers a diverse selection of small bites, sandwiches and drinks.

Public School 214’s new drinks include their Summer Refreshers, fruity cocktails with strong hints of booze, served in Mason jars. The Blackberry Bourbon Punch is a mix of booze and fruit essence, equal parts strong and sweet. If you want to kick things up a notch, the Lavender Vodka Lemonade has the strongest alcohol flavor out of the summer refreshers. The Summer Refreshers can each be purchased for $5.00 at “recess,” Public School 214’s happy hour, which takes place weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For appetizers has become known for their deviled eggs, crispy prosciutto, chili threads and micro cilantro. Lighter options include the edamame hummus. Served with garlic pita bread, the edamame hummus is spicy and savory, and for the most part, nutritious.

One of Public School 214’s new items is the Impossible Burger, a vegetarian version of the American burger. The Impossible Burger has become so popular that on any given day, Public School 214 may be sold out, however, there are still plenty of healthy options to choose from. The Southwestern Chicken Bowl is a tasty mix of asada grilled chicken, quinoa, stewed black beans, grilled corn, pico de gallo, avocado, white cheddar, cabbage, fried tortilla, poblano crema and cilantro.

Public School 214 is open for lunch and dinner on weekdays and for brunch on weekends.
