Headington Companies furthers its development of downtown’s Main Street District with the opening of its latest restaurant concept, Queso Beso, tomorrow Friday, December 13. An homage to Tex-Mex, Queso Beso celebrates the regional cuisine’s greatest hits in a playful, casual environment with indoor and outdoor seating opt
Housed in a historic building on Main Street across from The Joule overlooking the 30-foot-tall sculpture Eye, the two-story restaurant features eclectic and colorful interiors. Vinyl diner chairs, piñatas, and a ceiling full of Christmas lights add a touch of vintage kitsch. On the ground floor, a glass-enclosed patio allows for comfortable dining year-round and three TVs to help keep score. Upstairs, a private event space and open-air terrace are available for booking large parties.
Appetizers range from the classics (Guacamole, Nacho Besos, and Flautas De Polo) to coastal-inspired Coctel De Mariscos (with gulf shrimp or campechana) and Tostadas de Pulpo. Naturally, queso stars on the menu. A Queso Blanco is available original style or “compuesta” with chorizo, guacamole, crema, and green onion. Fresh corn tortillas and limes accompany a more traditional Queso Fundido with Oaxacan and Chihuahua cheeses and roasted peppers.
Classics on the menu include a variety of tacos (chicken tinga, carne asada, grilled fish, picadillo beef), enchiladas, pozole, taco salads, and combo plates. House specials take a more adventurous approach with dishes like the Shrimp Diablo (roasted sweet peppers, corn pico, and red chili butter) and Braised Chicken En Mole served with house mole and fresh corn tortillas.
Alongside beer, wine, and spirits, the bar at Queso Beso showcases an extensive lineup of tequila and mezcal. Specialty cocktails take inspiration from the flavors of Mexico and the Southwest and include frozen margaritas, ranch water, and an ancho-spiked paloma. Also, on the cocktail menu is a Frozen Painkiller, a classic tiki cocktail made with Bacardi superior rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut. Open for lunch, dinner, and drinks seven days a week, Queso Beso also provides orders to-go, catering for large parties, and private dining for events.
Queso Beso marks the twelfth restaurant in Headington Companies’ portfolio, which includes Americano, CBD Provisions, Weekend Coffee, Midnight Rambler, Mirador, No Aloha, and Commissary downtown; Wheelhouse, Sassetta and Go Go in the Design District; and The Porch on Knox-Henderson.
